    Hi Tracy,

Welcome to the forums, Its always nice to see comments from the local residents about their local website.

Its just a pity really that the local groups etc wont "use it and abuse it" so to speak!

Hopefully the visitors will start to pickup a bit, but in the meantime feel free to help people out!

hi, chris just wondering if you have put a poster up advertising the website in martin shop or at the village hall.

A poster advertsiing the website certainly could not do any harm. I think it is great idea. Is this your sort of thing or would you rather someone else did it? It would need a headline to draw people in...and thinking about this, I wonder also if we could introduce some sort of challenge or incentive to promote activity/traffic. The more people who participate, the more interesting a visit here will be. What is technically possible Chris?

Maybe there could even me some mileage in website 'fans' thinking of other ways to spread the word and make Chris's job easier too, Can do this online to start with.

Not sure how development is supported now...

    Hi Helen,

thanks for the comments and offers of help, it is much appreciated.

I could improve the MTCW in many ways, i.e live chatroom, etc etc which is why these boards are here; to test the water so to speak. However, not many people in the villages may be aware of the foums, which is why it seems to be quiet, I'm also looking for a decent e-card script to enable our website visitors to be able to send a e-card to one another.

We are also on facebook, with a group for Martin Village and Timberland Village, martin having 47 members and timberland 28 which *could* be used to send out messages to those groups.

I've been planning for the past few months to do a leaflet drop in the two villages, but at the moment I am having some difficulties finding the time to sit down and design something - I shall get round to it eventually!!

A good idea may be to hold a online website survey - see what the community wants from the website, and as an incentive, we could possible give away a meal for two at the local pub if they would be willing to sponsor a prize, or from elsewhere like the petwood in woodhall etc etc

In the meantime, do feel free to tell the community about this online community, - as Tescos would say: Every Little Helps!

A survey is a great idea. However, first we need to promote this website. A poster is the obvious solution, and we would need to display it in a variety of locations, such as:
    Timberland Post Office,
    Martin Post Office,
    Royal Oak,
    Penny Farthing,
    Timberland Village Hall,
    Martin Village Hall,
    Timberland Methodist Church,
    Timberland Church,
    Martin Church,
    Martin School.
Maybe we could get lots of people to design a poster...and Chris chooses the winner?

We are holding a Table Top Sale in Martin on 13th December, and will have a stand there for anyone to add their input on the day. Posters are around but to date the village hall one isn't up - we'll fix that asap. The posters include this website address.

    Hi all,

Thanks for including the website address etc etc on events flyers etc, this is much appreciated.

I like the idea of getting someone to design a poster, perhaps I could approach Mr Slaney at Martin School and see if it would be anything they would be interested to get the kids involved in.

In the meantime, i'm planning on sending out a "Seasonal Greetings" postcard to all households in Martin and Timberland, to promote the website, forums and whatever have you. I'm also working on making up a feedback form (like a survey), as i'm also planning to offer residents to have the chance to have their say within the leaflet drop.

If anyone has any suggestions as to what i could survey, it would be much appreciated. I have done a survey in the past on one of my other websites I manage, and could ideally take a few ideas from that etc.

Thanks for your help so far!
